This weekend in Pembroke Pines: Art reception, open mic night, movies & more
As Pembroke Pines closes out May, temperatures continue to climb.
Residents looking to stay cool without spending much money will have several ways to get out and engage with the community this weekend.
Here’s your guide to events happening across the city from Friday, May 29, through Sunday, May 31:
Opening Reception: 21st Annual Art Competition
The winners of a tri-county art competition will officially be unveiled Friday.
The free opening reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Studio 18 Art Complex, located at 1101 Poinciana Drive. The event is open to the public and welcomes all ages.
The exhibition follows an annual regional art competition hosted by the city that ran from late March through May 4 and was open to artists across the Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
What did the winners earn? Gallery space at Studio 18, cash prizes up to $500 and, of course, bragging rights as some of South Florida’s top local creatives.
The exhibition will remain on display through Aug. 5.
