Frontier to launch new nonstop route from Fort Lauderdale to mountain destination

Broward travelers curious to explore the Colorado terrain will soon have a new nonstop option from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport this fall.

Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday that it will begin offering daily nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale and Denver International Airport starting Nov. 20.

The Denver-based carrier, regarded as a budget-friendly option for travelers, said it’s launching the route to and from the Mile High City as part of a broader expansion across the United States.

In addition to the Denver route, the airline will also introduce new flights at airports including Los Angeles International, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County and Kansas City International in late fall and early winter.

Introductory fares for the Fort Lauderdale route start at $99, according to Frontier.

The move comes as Frontier and other carriers at FLL seek to fill the vacuum left by the demise of Spirit Airlines in May.

Frontier recently began operating another new route from Fort Lauderdale to Detroit, while JetBlue announced it would be rolling out its “largest-ever Fort Lauderdale schedule.”

“We are committed to ensuring consumers have affordable travel options, and are pleased to announce these new routes which will connect many popular destinations, including Houston, Denver, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, San Juan and more,” Frontier Vice President of Network and Operations Design Josh Flyr said in a July 14 news release.
