From night runs to trivia challenges, Pembroke Pines events happening this week

For residents ready to make the most of their week in Pembroke Pines, there’s something lined up for every age and interest.

From hands-on art workshops and kid’s storytime to community runs and bingo nights, the city has plenty to keep everyone entertained and engaged.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

Monday, Oct. 6

Pines Running Co.: Tempo Mondays

Every Monday at 7 a.m., the Pines Running Co. hosts a tempo run designed to help runners build speed and confidence. Open to all paces, the event is free to register through SweatPals.

Banned Books Trivia Challenge

As Banned Books Week 2025 activities start on Sunday, Oct. 5 and run through Saturday, Oct. 11, the Broward County Library is hosting a trivia challenge from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Walter C. Young Resource Center.

The theme for this year’s Banned Books Week is “Censorship is So 1984 — Read for Your Rights.” Registration is free, and participants will get the chance to win prizes.

Let’s Run Pines: Baoshi Extravaganza

To end Monday on a strong note, Let’s Run Pines is hosting a 2-mile social night run at 7 p.m. starting at the Baoshi Asian Food Hall. Runners are encouraged to rock pink attire.

The night will include food, raffle giveaways, exclusive deals and chances to win prizes including free brow services and even an IV drip. The event is free and runners can register through SweatPals.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

Night Bingo

The City of Pembroke Pines is hosting Night Bingo from 6-8 p.m. in the main hall of the Southwest Focal Point Community Center.

Game packs are $20 per person, no registration is needed, and the event takes place the first Tuesday of each month.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

Art of Gary Gore: Creative Workshop Series

As part of the City of Pembroke Pines’ fall art series, Studio18’s Gary Gore will lead a hands-on art and design workshop for children ages 8-12. This Wednesday’s theme is Design A Mug: Halloween Edition.

The workshops will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Village Community Center and are priced at $10 for local residents and $15 for non-residents. Register here.

Pines Running Co.: Miles and Margaritas

Starting from Lime Fresh, from 7-9 p.m., Pines Running Co. is celebrating hump-day with a 2-mile night run for all paces, followed by a free margarita with the purchase of a meal and 20% off orders. Registration is free and through SweatPals.

Thursday, Oct. 9

Bilingual Storytime

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Walter C. Young Resource Center is hosting a bilingual storytime on Thursday from 10:30-11 a.m. for children ages 2-5. A free take-home craft will be available while supplies last. Parents and caregivers can register their children here.

Chess Games

In addition to weekly Wednesday lessons, the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center is hosting chess games every Thursday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 10

The Marvelous Wonderettes

The Pembroke Pines Theater of the Performing Arts has its opening night of The Marvelous Wonderettes at 8 p.m. This jukebox musical comedy, written and created by Roger Bean, features more than 20 classic songs from the 1950s and ‘60s. Tickets for adults cost $40 but are $30 for seniors and students.
