School is out and summer break is officially underway for Broward students.

To help families with food security during the months campuses are closed, Broward County Public Schools is offering free meals through a statewide nutrition program.

Starting Monday, June 8, BCPS is keeping access to breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner open for students across 96 school sites through Florida’s Summer BreakSpot program.

The program is open to those 18 and younger while school is out of session.

No registration, application or proof of income is required.

The Summer BreakSpot program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Participating sites across the county include schools, libraries, parks and community centers.

To find the nearest participating location, the program’s website offers an interactive map.

Families can also call 211 for more information.

Meal service dates, times and offerings vary by location.

“Broward County Public Schools is committed to supporting the health and well-being of our students and families year-round,” BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn said in a news release.

“Through Summer BreakSpot, we are proud to offer nutritious meals that help children stay fueled, active and ready to learn throughout the summer.”

The program is meant to help mitigate food insecurity and ensure families have access to meals during the summer.

All meals must be eaten on-site and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families can also text “Food” or “Comida” to 304-304 for participating locations and schedules.

Broward students are set to return to classes for the 2026-2027 school year on Monday, Aug. 10.
