Pickup truck crashes into Aldi store on Pines Boulevard. Here’s what we know

UPDATE: The driver was identified as a 76-year-old woman who has now been cited for careless driving and recommended for a license re-examination, according to the Pembroke Pines Police Department. No injuries were reported.

A red pickup truck lost control and crashed into an Aldi grocery store in Pembroke Pines just before 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.

Jeff DeHoyos, a Miramar resident and Supervisor of Incident Management at Westway Towing, was called to the scene as the city is contracted with the company.

DeHoyos said the accident happened around 12:45 p.m. at the Aldi at 11330 Pines Blvd.

“Everyone was OK from the accident. Nobody was hurt, nobody inside the store, the driver was OK,” DeHoyos told the Pembroke Pines News. “[The driver] turned into the parking lot and just lost control.”

DeHoyos said several officers from the Pembroke Pines Police Department responded to the scene as well as some from the Pembroke Pines Fire Department.

The Pembroke Pines News reached out to the police department for comment Feb. 27 and did not immediately receive a response.
