Man accused of filming up girl’s skirt at Pembroke Pines church pleads not guilty
A 21-year-old accused of recording a juvenile girl under her dress at a Pembroke Pines church appeared in court Tuesday to face a felony digital voyeurism charge.
Daniel James Ducanis, of Davie , pleaded not guilty and was remanded into custody at his arraginment on Jan. 20 .
The Pembroke Pines News has reached out to Ducanis’ attorney for comment and has not received a response as of Jan. 21.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department led the investigation. The incident reportedly occurred on Nov. 23 at the Boulevard Bible Chapel, located at 6800 Pines Blvd., and was witnessed by multiple people, according to the court documents.
One girl told investigators that she was having a conversation near the victim after service when Ducanis “passed by behind [the victim], and as he passed by I noticed out of the corner of my eye he had his phone under her skirt,” according to the report.
The witness told investigators she believed Ducanis recorded under the victim’s dress three times and noticed that the phone was recording during at least one of those instances.
According to police, another witness told detectives that prior to his sister and her friend notifying him about what happened, he had been speaking with Ducanis and noticed that Ducanis’ phone was on video mode.
He told investigators he saw Ducanis watching a video on his phone that appeared to have been recorded in church, as the church floor was visible in the footage.
On Dec. 4 the lead officer determined that a search warrant for Ducanis’ phone should be obtained. The following day, the Pembroke Pines Police Department along with members of the Davie Police Department, responded to Ducanis’ residence.
Ducanis initially denied the all allegations, according to the affidavit. Later that same day, the detective reported receiving an email from Ducanis stating that he wished to amend his statement.
He said he filmed the girls but had subsequently deleted the videos, police said. In that email, Ducanis stated he did not send any videos or images to anyone, according to the report.
Ducanis was arrested on Dec. 10 after officials had asked him to the station to talk and possibly get his phone back. He was placed under arrest on a video voyeurism charge.
