A Pompano Beach man was arrested after robbing a Pembroke Pines bank Wednesday, Jan. 21, according to police.

Officers responded to a “silent panic alarm” from a TD Bank — located at 7999 Pines Boulevard — around 9:50 a.m., the Pembroke Pines Police Department confirmed in a statement released hours later.

Police found the alleged thief, 33-year-old Michael Michael Paul, less than a half-mile away and arrested him shortly after being deployed to search the area.

Paul — whose last address is in Pompano Beach, court records show — walked into TD Bank and “handed a teller a note demanding money,” heading out once he got the cash, police said.

Jail records did not show where Paul was being held. Broward County court records show he was arrested in 2019 for trying to steal a bike from a Fort Lauderdale Target.

Per PPPD protocol, the theft will now be looked into by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, the lead agency for investigating bank robberies, police said.

Authorities enocurage those with additional information to reach out via the FBI’s tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
