A Pembroke Pines motorcyclist is dead after a multi-vehicle crash that shut down traffic for hours on Sunday, according to police.

Officers responded to the NW 146th Avenue and Sheridan Street collision between a Honda Civic and a Kawasaki motorcycle around noon on Jan. 4, the Pembroke Pines Police Department said.

The biker — a 37-year-old man — was reported to have serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, agency spokesperson Amanda Conwell told the Pembroke Pines News on Jan. 5

Sections of Sheridan Street east of Interstate 75 to Volunteer Avenue, police said, were blocked “for a few hours” while officers remained on scene and reopened late Sunday afternoon.

The motorcycle was westbound on Sheridan Street when it crossed paths with the Honda Civic — making a left onto NW 146th Avenue to head south — and crashed into its rear passenger side, according to Conwell.

Though the collision is still under investigation, PPPD added that “speed may play a factor” into what caused the crash.
