Homicide count up slightly in Pembroke Pines in 2025. One case is open, cops say
Pembroke Pines is on the verge of closing out 2025 with an unofficial total of four homicides — one more than recorded in the city in 2024 — according to Pembroke Pines police records.
With two weeks remaining in the year, a review of police media releases shows four murder investigations handled by Pembroke Pines police in 2025.
The department is still compiling its end-of-the-year overall crime statistics, officials told the Pembroke Pines News.
The slight uptick represents a 33% increase in the homicide rate for the city of about 180,000 residents.
Two of the four homicides in 2025 occurred seven months apart in the same parking lot at Rickey’s Sports Bar & Grill at 8389 Pines Blvd. Authorities have not confirmed a direct connection between those cases.
The other homicides occurred when police said a suspect allegedly killed two friends who were staying with him at his grandmother’s home. The motive for those killings remains unclear.
Pembroke Pines police have made arrests in three of the four homicides reported in 2025.
Here is a brief description of each case:
April 12 — One killed in the parking lot of Rickey’s Sports Bar & Grill
The first homicide of the year involved a fatal shooting shortly after 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the sports bar. Police described the incident as targeted. No arrests have been made as of Dec. 16. The victim’s name was not released due to Marsy’s Law.
Sept. 10 — Double homicide at a home on the 1700 block of NW 109th Avenue
Police said Isaiah Collins, 27, was arrested and charged with killing two of his friends inside his grandmother’s home. The victims were identified as Octavis Myers, 27, and his girlfriend, Tiara Belizaire-Young, 24.
Both were shot multiple times in different parts of the residence. Police said the victims had been invited to stay at the home by Collins, who was captured four days after running from police and crossing Florida’s Turnpike traffic.
He was eventually wounded in the arm by police and apprehended while sitting on a park bench in Miami Gardens.
Oct. 19 — Double shooting in the parking lot of Rickey’s Sports Bar & Grill
Two men were found shot at around 3:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the sports bar. One of the victims later died. Police arrested Clayton Hicks, 27, of Miami, shortly after the shooting. Then on Dec. 2, officers arrested a second suspect, Richaun Erick McKnight, 21, also of Miami. Both Hicks and McKnight are charged with second-degree murder.
