Pembroke Pines earns national recognition for Hispanic entrepreneurs. What to know
Pembroke Pines has been named the second-best city in the nation for Hispanic entrepreneurs in 2025, according to a report from the personal financial management system WalletHub.
The study analyzed 182 U.S. cities and found that Pembroke Pines has the highest Hispanic entrepreneurship rate in the country and the fourth-highest share of businesses owned by Hispanic residents, at about 32.8%. Orlando ranked first overall.
Nearly half of Pembroke Pines’ population, about 48%, identifies as Hispanic, which places the city 21st nationwide for its share of Hispanic residents.
WalletHub found that the city ranks high for not only Hispanic entrepreneurship but also for overall rates in the general population.
Pembroke Pines also benefits from the 15th-lowest corporate tax rate among all cities studied, which the report says help entrepreneurs “keep more money while avoiding burnout.”
“In the top cities, Hispanic entrepreneurs can enjoy low corporate tax rates and good opportunities for growth,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in the report’s findings. “Plus, a large Hispanic population can be especially helpful for entrepreneurs who want to cater to that demographic.”
Methodology behind the rankings
WalletHub compared 182 cities across two major categories: “Hispanic Business-Friendliness” and “Hispanic Purchasing Power.”
Researchers evaluated 23 metrics, including the rate of Hispanic-owned businesses, entrepreneurship activity, revenue growth and housing tenure among Hispanic residents.
Each city received a total score out of 100 points based on a weighted average of factors.
Pembroke Pines scored a 64.06, placing it just behind Orlando (66.44) and ahead of cities such as Fort Lauderdale (No. 3) and Miami (No. 5).
Cape Coral (No. 6), Hialeah (No. 7), Port St. Lucie (No. 8), Tampa (No. 11), Tallahassee (No. 14), Jacksonville (No. 15) and St. Petersburg (No. 17) also ranked in the top 20.
