Culver’s moves closer to opening restaurant in Pembroke Pines. Here’s the latest
A Wisconsin-based burger spot could soon make its way to Pembroke Pines, according to city records.
Fast-casual chain Culver’s is aiming to open at 1580 S. Hiatus Road and has filed permit applications with the state, Baron Waller, the store’s owner, told the Pembroke Pines News on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Though he didn’t give an exact opening date, the owner says customers can expect to dine-in “definitely in 2026.”
“That’s one of the reasons we’re [coming to Pembroke Pines]. Now people can get an understanding of what Culver’s offers,” Waller said. “We truly try to focus on providing a good experience when you go to a restaurant, because people want to go out, and they want to a good, positive experience.”
The restaurant site, located within the Villages of Mayfair shopping center, spans nearly 5,000 square feet and was “previously approved for four office buildings,” according to records from an August meeting of the Pembroke Pines Planning and Zoning Board.
For the Southwest Broward restaurant, developers are planning a standalone building in the plaza’s center equipped with two drive-thru lanes.
Culver’s — which hails from Sauk City, Wisconsin and opened in 1984 — has over 800 restaurants across 26 states, including South Florida eateries in Cooper City (Waller’s other Broward location as franchisee), Tamarac and Margate.
The Culver’s franchisee also co-owns a Lake Park restaurant and is planning to add a location in Green Acres, both in Palm Beach County.
The chain prides itself on “hometown hospitality” customer service and “fresh, never frozen” menu items, such as the cooked-to-order ButterBurger, cheese curds sourced from Wisconsin dairy farms and small-batch frozen custard made in-house daily.
“We’re going to work with [our partners] and make it as soon as possible, as soon as we can possibly open it,” Waller said.
