This week in Pembroke Pines: Memorial Day, Thursday concert series, Senior Day & more
We made it to the end of May, Pembroke Pines.
As the city closes out the month, the start of the new week is marked by remembrance and celebration.
Memorial Day honors those who served and sacrificed in a city founded on post-World War II hope, while the final days of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month add multiple cultural events to the calendar.
There’s something for nearly every age group around the city this week.
Here’s what’s happening in your city from Monday, May 25, through Thursday, May 28:
Memorial Day
The city is hosting a Memorial Day Observance ceremony starting at 9 a.m. on Monday at Donnith H. Fletcher Park, 7500 Johnson St. The free event will recognize fallen service members from the city and nationwide.
The ceremony will begin with the presentations of colors by the Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Honor Guard. There will also be a wreath-placing ceremony in which veterans, community leaders and special guests pay tribute to the memory of their heroes.
