This week in Pembroke Pines: Car meetup, pageants, birthday bash & more
Pembroke Pines residents have plenty of ways to get out and enjoy spring in the city this week, with a food festival and several cultural events on the docket.
And just in time for Earth Day, one of the city’s parks recently earned a top 10 designation to “sit alone for a while and breathe.”
Here’s what’s going on throughout your city this week from Monday, April 20, through Saturday, April 25:
Taste of the Gardens
For those lucky enough to snag tickets, Pembroke Gardens is hosting an international food festival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The sold-out event is hosted by the Miramar Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees can expect a “taste card” that includes all food and beverage samples for the night. The festival will be followed by an afterparty at Village Tavern.
Tokyo Nights
Fans of the third installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise will have a chance to relish Japan’s car culture without leaving the city at Baoshi Hall on Wednesday.
The hall, located at 8525 Pines Blvd., will host the event from 7 to 10 p.m.
Those interested can secure free tickets through Eventbrite.
Miss Pembroke Pines Royal Court Pageant
The city’s youngest pageant contestants will take part in the annual Little Miss Sweetheart and Miss Pembroke Pines pageants at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. All contestants were required to be city residents and pre-registered by April 15.
The event will be held inside the main lobby of the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way.
The winners will be crowned at the city’s 66th Pines Day Birthday Celebration on Saturday.
Pines Day: Celebrate the city’s 66th birthday
In honor of the Pembroke Pines’ 66th birthday, the city will host a bash that includes free food, retro rides and live entertainment on Saturday at the Charles F. Dodge City Center.
The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. and is themed Route 66: The Road to 250.
The bash for Broward’s second-most populous city will also celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary since its independence in 1776.
Like at any birthday celebration, there will be cake and a large “cupcake roll out.”
