Beauty princesses and queens in the making will have a chance to be named city royalty this spring.

The City of Pembroke Pines opened registration on Wednesday, March 18, for its annual Little Miss Sweetheart and Miss Pembroke Pines pageants, open to girls ages 3 to 16 years old.

All contestants must be city residents and be pre-registered by April 15.

Both pageants will take place as part of the Royal Court Pageant on April 23 at 6:30 p.m. inside the main lobby of the Charles F. Dodge City Center, 601 City Center Way. Mandatory rehearsals for the pageant will take place that day at 6 p.m.

The winners will be crowned at the city’s 66th Pines Day Birthday Celebration on April 25.

The girls will be judged on poise and personality. Each contestant will answer one onstage question.

The event is divided into two pageants, The Little Miss Sweetheart and Miss Pembroke Pines, each with different application and age requirements.

The Little Miss Sweetheart pageant is open to girls ages 3 to 5 years old. The Miss Pembroke Pines pageant has three age divisions: Young Junior Miss (ages 6-8), Junior Miss (ages 9-12) and Miss Pembroke Pines (ages 13-16).

All participants must provide a proof of residency and a copy of their birth certificate with the application. If it is determined that a contestant does not meet the requirements, she will be disqualified.

For the glam, the city recommends short, age-appropriate dresses and describes the attire as “Sunday’s Best.” Formal wear and swimsuits are not permitted.

For more information on the event, residents can contact the Special Events Office at 954-392-2116 or email fnovo@ppines.com.
