Winter festivals, pop-up bars and art: Holiday happenings in Pembroke Pines

The peppermint scents fill the air, the twinkle lights are glowing with a soft hue and everyone’s hoping for at least one Florida night that dips below 70 degrees.

The city opens itself to festive pop-up bars and storytimes with Santa, enough events to carry you through December and into the new year.

Here’s your guide to what’s happening this holiday season.

The Reindeer Room

Unit B Eatery & Spirits has brought back The Reindeer Room, its holiday pop-up bar, for the second year, running through Jan. 3. Guests can sip cocktails inside a vintage-inspired winter wonderland at Pembroke Gardens.

Drinks including Rudolph’s Rendezvous and Prancer’s Pearadise are on special. Unit B Eatery and Spirits is open Tuesday-Thursday from 4 to 11 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m.

Reservations are strongly recommended, as the pop-up gets busy. Private party bookings are also available.

Storytime with Santa

Santa Claus is coming to town and stopping by Barnes & Noble at Pembroke Gardens for a Storytime with Santa on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.

After the storytelling session, Santa will be hosting a book signing, and the featured book will be available for purchase as a keepsake. Families can also take a festive photo with Santa.

Ticket for the kids are $5, and parents do not need to purchase one. Tickets can be purchased here.

Southwest Focal Point Senior Center’s Holiday Open House

The Southwest Focal Point Senior Center is hosting a free holiday open house. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, families are invited to enjoy holiday displays, face painting, live entertainment, hot cocoa and cookies. Santa is also slated to attend to give away party favors.

Florida Technical College’s Winter Festival

From 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 13, Florida Technical College is hosting a free community event with their annual winter festival.

The event will feature games, raffles, giveaways and festive activities for the holiday season. Registration is free.

Studio 18 Holiday Market

Get a head start on holiday shopping at the Studio 18 Art Complex Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This one-day holiday sale will feature affordable, one-of-a-kind art from the studio’s resident artists all for under $20.

There will be paintings, ceramics, jewelry, prints and more for purchase. Located at 1101 Poinciana Drive, admission is free and open to the public.

Heroes of Hip Hop Holiday Showcase

The Heroes of Hip Hop is a Weston-based hip hop dance and performing arts academy. The group is hosting its annual holiday showcase on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., at the Charles F. Dodge City Center.

This year’s showcase pays homage to The Grinch, in honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary.

“Home Alone” Movie Night

On Saturday, Dec. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m., the city of Pembroke Pines will be hosting a holiday movie night at the Charles F. Dodge City Center’s main quad.

The free event will screen “Home Alone,” the classic holiday movie for the whole family.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. There will also be a card-making station for those ready to write their lists to Santa, and a cookie decorating space with hot chocolate (while supplies last).
