For Pembroke Pines residents who have dreamed of seeing snow in South Florida, this December might just be your chance.

The City of Pembroke Pines is hosting its annual SnowFest & Lighting Ceremony from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Charles F. Dodge City Center located at 601 City Center Way.

The event is exclusive to residents and filled with activities for the whole family, from a 10-foot-tall dual slide to performances by more than 400 singers and dancers on the holiday stage.

Families will also have the opportunity to snap photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their North Pole friends, and join city officials for the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

Those feeling extra festive can participate in the ugly sweater contest, where roaming judges will reward “The Ugliest Holiday Sweater.”

“Baking Spirits Bright” is another contest where six families will be competing in a gingerbread house contest, also with prizes.

Food trucks and concessions will offer bites and beverages throughout the event. No pets are allowed to attend.
