This Friday through Sunday, Pembroke Pines offers a meet-and-greet with local police and firefighters, a 3K Halloween run you can bring your pooch to, a jazz concert scored by Disney classics, and a jigsaw puzzle comeptition that’ll leave you scrambling for pieces.

Pines Night Out
Pembroke Pines’ police and fire departments invite locals to a night of public safety fun in honor of National Crime Prevention Month. Set for Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, the festivities include food, music, bounce houses, costume contests and health screenings. Meet your neighborhood first responders and enjoy displays by the K-9, crime scene and dive units as well as fire truck demonstrations. Admission is free and open to the public.

Ghouls Night Out
Join the Kendra Scott team for its frighteningly fun Ghouls Night Out on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The jewelry store’s Pembroke Gardens location will host a complimentary “spooky and smokey” happy hour and costume contest with a chance to win an in-store raffle. Admission is free and open to the public.

Howl-O-Ween 3K-9 family run
Looking to get your steps in with Fido? Participate in the Pembroke Pines YMCA’s 3K-9 walk Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Once you’ve done your laps, visit the event’s parade, costume contest or photo booth for more fun with your furry friend. All proceeds support the nonprofit’s Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Initiative. Admission is $25 and includes a YMCA-branded bandana for you and your dog.

Fall flea market & bazaar
Over 100 vendors will sell their pre-loved treasures and artisan goods at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Peruse through tables of vinyl records, jewelry, secondhand clothes, vintage toys and more while enjoying refreshments from Emilio’s Café, which will stay open for attendees. Admission and parking are free and open to the public.

Fall Fest
Shopping center Westfork Plaza & Paraiso Parc invites you to celebrate autumn at its Fall Fest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festivities will take place on site — at 15911-15999 Pines Blvd. — a feature a live DJ, bounce house obstacle course, pumpkin decorating and balloon animals. Admission is free and open to the public.

Jazz concert at Pembroke Pines/Walter C. Young Resource Center
Croon to show tunes at this Broward County library branch’s jazz concert Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. Trumpeter Emily Kennedy and pianist Patrice Rigi will perform music by the Sherman Brothers, an American songwriting duo known for their work on classic Disney films such as “Mary Poppins” and “The Jungle Book.” The event is open to all ages, but kids who attend will receive a craft kit to take home. Admission is free with registration.

PembrokeKIDS learn to draw Halloween monsters
All kids are welcome to channel their inner artist at Pembroke Gardens’ drawing workshop Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in collaboration with nonprofit ComicKids and jewelry store Kendra Scott. Children will learn to sketch their Halloween-themed characters, enjoy chicken tenders from Brimstone Woodfire Grill and the first 25 attendees will receive a goodie bag with treats and a voucher for Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Only kids are required to have tickets, which go for $5 each.

Jigsaw puzzle competition
Want a piece of the action at Broward County Library? Join the South Regional/Broward College Library branch’s Jigsaw Puzzle Competition Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will compete in teams of 2-4 people to complete a 500-piece puzzle in 2 hours. The winner is the first team to finish the jigsaw or the team with the least amount of loose pieces by the end of the tournament. Admission is free with registration.
