What happened to Monster Mini Golf in Pembroke Pines? Here’s what we know
A glow-in-the-dark mini golf course in Pembroke Pines known for its hand-painted local art and Halloween-inspired decor closed its doors after less than a year in business.
Monster Mini Golf, located at 8358 Pines Blvd., announced on its website that the location closed May 12 and is “no longer operating as an authorized franchise.”
The indoor entertainment space opened for business on July 15, 2025. The Pines location was the last Monster Mini Golf location in Broward County, following the closure of the Coral Springs location.
The concept started in 2004, when a couple from Connecticut set out to turn outdoor mini golf into a glow-in-the-dark experience.
Since then, Monster Mini Golf transitioned into a family entertainment franchise with locations ranging from 9,000 to 25,000 square feet, according to the company’s website.
In addition to a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course, the Pembroke Pines location offered a laser maze, laser tag, arcade games, mini bowling and virtual-reality games.
“Effective May 12, 2026 this location has closed and is no longer operating as an authorized franchise of Monster Mini Golf (R),” the company said on its website.
The company says customers who paid for a deposit for future events should email franchise@monsterminigolf.com for help.
The Pembroke Pines location appears to be operating under a different name, Boneyard Pizza Co., which is also listed as temporarily closed on Google Maps.
On its Instagram, the pizza restaurant has “we are closed (until) further notice,” written in its bio.
Before the Monster Mini Golf moved into the space, it was home to Cafe Iguana, a dance club and bar that closed in 2020 during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Broward Scene posted a video on its Instagram of the Monster Mini Golf closure on June 22 that drew over 1,000 likes and more than 160 comments, with many calling for Cafe Iguana to return.
The only other Broward location, Monster Mini Golf in Coral Springs, also shut its doors in May, after 12 years in business.
