The Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts company is back in business this summer with a show meant to pay homage to the “magic of the movies.”

PPTOPA returns to the stage for eight shows in July with “Hooray for Hollywood: Celebrating the Magic of the Movies,” a musical revue featuring songs from classic films.

Guests can sing along to songs such as “Over the Rainbow,” “Eye of the Tiger” and “My Heart Will Go On,” alongside music from movies including “Grease,” “Rocky,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Peter Pan.”

“Music can enhance tear-jerking dramas, action-packed thrillers, and sidesplitting comedies,” the show’s description reads.

The production will take place at the Susan B. Katz Theatre at River of Grass Arts Park.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for seniors and students. The show’s run time is about two hours.

The schedule:

  • Friday, July 17: 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 18: 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 19: 2 p.m.
  • Friday, July 24: 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25: 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 26: 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office, which opens one hour before each performance, or through the theater company’s website.
