Got motor oil, batteries or old electronics lying around the house?

Pembroke Pines’ quarterly hazardous waste drop-off event is coming to town on Saturday, June 20. Here’s how to prepare.

First, make sure you’ve got proof of residency to participate in the drop-off, which will take place at the city’s wastewater treatment plant, located at 13975 Pembroke Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

That includes utility bills, a mortgage statement or your driver’s license, among other documents.

If you haven’t sorted out your waste or proof of residency in time, two additional drop-off dates with Republic Services — Pines’ solid waste partner — are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Dec. 19.

Next, you’ll want to sort through your trash to see if it meets the city’s hazardous waste eligibility criteria.
