South Florida travelers will regain five seasonal Southwest Airlines routes out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport under the airline’s latest expansion plans.

The carrier plans to restore the flights this winter as FLL continues to rebuild its offerings after Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May.

In April, Southwest ranked as the fourth-largest carrier at the airport, accounting for 8.6% of passenger traffic, trailing Spirit, JetBlue and Delta.

According to USA Today’s Florida Network, the airline will bring back these seasonal routes in January:

  • Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut (BDL)
  • Eppley Airfield, Omaha, Nebraska (OMA)
  • Long Island MacArthur Airport, New York (ISP)
  • Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, New York (ROC)

The carrier also plans to launch new routes out of Miami International Airport, Palm Beach International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

Although some airlines have taken to increase their presence at FLL in the wake of Spirit’s closure, Southwest plans to focus on another major Florida airport.

“The carrier is continuing to buttress its Florida fortress — Orlando International Airport — with up to 203 departures on high-demand Saturdays through the first two months of 2027,” a June 5 news release said.
