Brazilian acai shop with 600+ stores globally to make its way to Pembroke Pines
A refreshing health food eatery is making its way to Pembroke Pines.
Brazil-based Oakberry Acai is setting up shop at 15999 Pines Blvd., inside west Pines’ Westfork Plaza, and will bring antioxidant-packed bowls, smoothies, snacks and drinks.
The store will replace the former I Heart Mac & Cheese restaurant that closed in early 2025.
The southwest Broward locale’s opening date has not been announced as of May 27, though the new store is listed under “Coming Soon” on Oakberry’s website.
The acai chain also passed its food licensing inspection without issue, according to a May 12 Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation report.
What to expect from Oakberry’s Pembroke Pines store?
The franchise only serves acai-based products, claiming it is “on a journey to make acaí known and appreciated all over the globe,” and tailors many of its offerings to its “health-conscious” customers.
What is acai? Oakberry describes it as “a small, dark purple berry that grows in rainforests in Brazil,” and is rich in antioxidants, potassium, calcium, vitamin E, Omega 6 and 9, and proteins.
The chains most popular menu items are acai bowls and smoothies topped with varying combinations of chia seed pudding, peanut butter, granola, berries, nuts, bananas and standout ingredients such as matcha and whey protein.
It also weaves the purple berry ingredient into protein bars and a canned kombucha drink sold in stores.
