Bed, Bath & Beyond returns to Pembroke Pines through store merger. What we know
If your house is in need of a refresh or restock, a popular retail home goods store is making its Broward comeback just three years after filing for bankruptcy.
Bed, Bath & Beyond products will soon return to Pembroke Pines shelves through a collaboration with a storage and organization staple: The Container Store at 14530 SW Second St.
“This is a reset with purpose,” Jen Pape, The Container Store’s senior vice president, said in a news release announcing the move. “We are actively reshaping our stores to make room for what’s next.”
As part of a nationwide overhaul across 98 stores, Beyond, Inc. — the parent company of BB&B that’s set to own TCS by this summer — will reset floor plans at The Container Store locations to integrate Bed, Bath & Beyond products for a “combined in-store experience.”
“The reimagined stores will combine The Container Store’s organizing solutions, in-home services and expertise with an expanded home assortment and complementary offerings from Bed Bath & Beyond,” officials said.
A sales event to liquidate 30% of TCS’ inventory and make room for new BB&B goods kicked off April 24 and is offering up to 60% discounts on hundreds of in-store and online items, both retailers shared in a May 9 Instagram post.
Store transformations to merge the retailers begin in May.
Here are the eight Florida stores that will soon host the new The Container Store + Bed Bath & Beyond format:
- Boca Raton, 6000 Glades Road
- Hallandale Beach, 500 Seabiscuit Trail
- Miami, 850 NE Second Ave.
- Miami, 7200 N. Kendall Drive
- Orlando, 4088 Millenia Blvd.
- Palm Beach Gardens, 11201 Legacy Ave.
- Pembroke Pines, 14530 SW Second St.
- Tampa, 4720 W. Spruce St.
Bed, Bath & Beyond bankruptcy
Bed, Bath & Beyond declared bankruptcy in April 2023, shuttering its 41 Florida stores thanks to competition in the online retail space and declining sales, the Miami Herald reported in 2023.
By late November 2022, the company was estimating a debt of $5.2 billion, the Herald reported.
The store’s Pembroke Pines location, 11470 Pines Blvd., and sister children’s store Buy Buy Baby — owned by Beyond, Inc. and formerly at 11360 Pines Blvd. — closed in 2023.
