Wrong-way driver causes head-on crash on I-75 in Pembroke Pines, fire rescue says

Two people were hospitalized after an apparent wrong-way driver crashed into another car on Interstate 75 on Tuesday, authorities said.

One SUV driver was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75 on April 21 when they crashed head-on into another SUV, a spokesperson for Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue told the Pembroke Pines News.

The collision happened just south of Pines Boulevard on the highway, causing lane closures.

Florida Highway Patrol responded along with Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, which took the two drivers to Memorial Regional Hospital as level one trauma alerts.

One driver ended up in the ICU with serious injuries, and the other driver sustained minor injuries, according to fire rescue.
