Large brush fire takes over west Broward, near Pembroke Pines. What we know
Western Broward County is up in flames following a large brush fire near a major highway, according to news outlets.
Crews from multiple Broward fire agencies responded to the blaze, located just off U.S. Highway 27, west of Pembroke Pines, on Tuesday, April 21, NBC 6 South Florida reported.
Aerial footage “showed thick smoke rising into the air from the fire” and a helicopter dumping water from above, according to the station.
Flames were also seen spreading, CBS Miami reported.
Per the Florida Forest Service, the fire has burned approximately 11 acres and was “0% contained” as of Tuesday afternoon, reported NBC 6 South Florida.
No road closures, evacuations or injuries have been reported in connection with the blaze, CBS Miami added.
Neither Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue nor the Florida Forest Service responded to the Pembroke Pines News’ request for comment.
