Pembroke Pines veterans invited to Marlins game at loanDepot Park. What to know
We know people will come out for baseball, and this time, veterans will get the chance to experience an evening on the field.
The City of Pembroke Pines, in partnership with VetBaseball, is inviting its veterans to spend a night with the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park.
A bus will pick up guests at the Charles F. Dodge City Center on Tuesday, May 5. The bus will depart at 4:15 p.m., with first pitch between the Marlins and Baltimore Orioles scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
The outing is organized in partnership with VetBaseball, a nonprofit that has taken thousands of veterans to Major League Baseball games at no cost.
Since launching in 2018, the program has hosted more than 3,000 veterans. Their first trip to a Marlins home game was on May 17, 2018.
“We provide door-to-door transportation, meals, game tickets, and coordinating special medical needs to get our country’s bravest to MLB games, at no cost to the veteran,” the organization states on its website.
Veterans and guests will receive a buffet-catered meal, snacks and beverages during the game and a commemorative Vetbaseball T-shirt.
Non-veteran guests are also invited with a minimum donation of $75. A limited number of volunteer spots are also available.
For those unable to attend the May 5 game, the organization will return to Pembroke Pines for a summer outing on June 24.
Those interested can register through GiveButter. For more information or questions, contact the organization at info@vetbaseball.org or 754-205-7211.
