If you’ve been trying to bribe your kids into loving movement and fitness, a South Florida charity giant wants to help.

YMCA of South Florida is bringing its annual Healthy Kids Day extravaganza to seven of the organization’s locations across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, including Pembroke Pines’ YMCA Family Center at 501 SW 172nd Ave.

“At the Y, we believe it’s so important for our kids to learn how to stay healthy in body, mind and spirit by staying active in youth sports, aquatics and summer camp,” Sheryl Woods, YMCA of South Florida’s president and CEO, told CityBiz in March.

“Our Healthy Kids Day is an annual tradition across all YMCAs around the country and a tremendous opportunity to have fun and learn more about what the Y has to offer.”

The health fair, sponsored by Nicklaus Children’s Health System and Publix Super Markets Charities, is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18.

No membership with the organization is required to attend, but all participants must register via the nonprofit’s website.

On display will be several YMCA programs, including the organization’s afterschool program, swim lessons, group fitness classes, youth sports programs and Camp Y, its summer day camp.

Demos from Pembroke Pines’ YMCA’s aquatic center — located five miles away at 1361 NW 129th Ave. — can also be expected.

Healthy Kids Day will also feature child-friendly entertainment to remind kids that fitness is fun. Little ones can enjoy carnival games, bounce houses and slides, face painting while families enjoy the event’s food truck and local vendor offerings.
