JetBlue adds new Cleveland flight out of FLL, increases routes to 9 other cities
Despite a partial government shutdown and continuing airport woes, JetBlue Airways plans to add more flights out of Fort Lauderdale International-Hollywood Airport starting in July.
The carrier announced Thursday, March 26, that it will launch a new route to Cleveland, while increasing the frequencies on nine of the more-popular routes out of FLL.
JetBlue, the airport’s largest carrier, said the addition of the Cleveland route brings its service to 21 cities and increases its daily departures by about 32 flights from the airport over the past year.
Earlier in March, the airline announced four service changes, including converting its FLL-to-Jacksonville route into daily year-round service. The route was previously offered only during peak spring break travel.
For the new Cleveland route, set to begin July 8, the airline plans to offer two daily flights: one at 8 a.m. departing from the Northeast Ohio city and the other at 8:55 p.m. departing from FLL.
The flights are now avaiable for purchase with special offers, according to the carrier.
The expanded service, scheduled to begin July 8-9:
- Atlanta (ATL): four daily flights
- Aruba (AUA): one daily flight
- Newark (EWR): four daily flights
- Jacksonville (JAX): two daily flights
- Las Vegas (LAS): three daily flights
- Norfolk, Virginia (ORF): one daily flight
- Philadelphia (PHL): three daily flights
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (SDQ): two daily flights
- St. Maarten (SXM): one daily flight
“These latest additions reflect our ongoing strategy to build an undeniably strong and relevant network in Fort Lauderdale by adding both new destinations and more frequencies where our customers want to fly,” Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of revenue, network and enterprise planning for JetBlue, said in a news release.
