Former international pageant queen brings sustainable skin care to Pembroke Pines
A former international pageant queen has moved her online skin care brand into a Pembroke Pines brick-and-mortar location, promising healthy skin without the environmental drawbacks.
G&U Skincare celebrated the grand opening of its first storefront — located at 18245 Pines Blvd. — on Wednesday, March 18, at the Shoppes of Silver Lakes.
At the helm of the ribbon-cutting was brand owner Andrea Gomez, famous for her Miss Venezuela International win in 2004.
“We’re taking the leap from online to physical. A new chapter. New challenges. Same obsession: truly caring for your skin,” Gomez and her team announced in a March 18 Instagram post. “This is more than a store. It’s a space to understand, experience, and be guided.”
G&U — which stands for “green and uncompromised” — got its start in 2020 as a way to marry skin care with environmental sustainability, specifically through responsibly sourcing products ingredients.
As Gomez navigated solutions to her own skin health concerns such as premature aging, acne and hyperpigmentation, she struggled to find clean beauty items — cosmetics manufactured without ingredients harmful to human and environmental health — that also delivered visible results.
“For us, it’s not just about results, it’s about results that you can feel good about,” Gómez told Women’s Insider in August. “We don’t add unnecessary chemicals, artificial fragrance, or fillers. Every ingredient in our products serves a specific purpose. Our motto has always been: Conscious Beauty. Powerful Results.”
To achieve that, she partnered with her mother Katty — G&U’s chief operating officer and a doctor and specialist of decades — to develop medical-grade skin care and cosmetic solutions.
Six years later, the brand has a line of products that are dermatologist approved, vegan, animal-cruelty free and sans pollutants such as parabens, fragrances, comodogenics and more.
“Our visitors (Wednesday at the grand opening) were especially impressed by the skin analysis machine,” Katty Gomez told the Pembroke Pines News. “At G&U, we focus on treating the skin with intention and science, and being in a physical space allows us to guide each client more closely and recommend what their skin truly needs.”
The brand’s online best-sellers products, now available in-store, include a tinted sunscreen built to combat melasma, an anti-aging serum with 24K gold and snail mucin, an eyelash growth serum, a pH-balancing cleanser, and an antioxidant formula sporting Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Ferulic acid.
All range from $36 to $126.50, per G&U’s website.
“Seeing the community connect with G&U in person confirmed why we wanted a physical space. It allows us to educate, personalize, and truly experience skincare with our clients,” Andrea Gomez told the Pembroke Pines News.
“G&U was built on the belief that clean, high-performance skincare should deliver real results, and that’s exactly what we’re bringing to South Florida.”
G&U Skincare will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
