‘Bike rodeo’ with food trucks, DJs and prizes kicks off March in Pines. What to know
If you’re looking for freewheeling weekend fun, Pembroke Pines has got just the fest for you.
The city is hosting a Family Bike Ride & Bike Rodeo on Saturday, March 7, to celebrate fitness and wellness accessibility for all. Headlining the event are a sweat session, live music, giveaways and community fun.
Cyclists of all ages — and paces — should bring their bikes to the Southwest Regional Library from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., kicking off the day with a bike ride along the library’s one-third-mile park loop.
Children are welcome but must bring their own helmets to participate, while additional gear such as knee pads are also recommended.
Post-ride, attendees can enjoy a “rodeo” outside the library featuring food trucks, DJ performances and prizes to party in the name of Rec, Set, Go, the city-sponored initiative behind the event.
Rec, Set, Go is Pembroke Pines’ mobile recreation and arts transportation shuttle created in 2018 to bring the city’s cultural programming to residents’ backyards.
The colorful cartoon-wrapped van is known to make appearances at city parks and bring free recreational games and arts projects to community spaces so that “residents also have the opportunity to interact with each other,” officials say.
Previous Rec, Set, Go events include a pop-up playground and field day at Tanglewood Park as well as a bike rodeo featuring the Pembroke Pines Police Department’s Community Affairs Unit in 2023.
To register for the March 7 bike rodeo, sign up through the Southwest Regional Library’s site.
For more information on the event, participants can call the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department at 954-392-2130.
