Hate the DMV? Renew your tag at this new self-service kiosk in Pembroke Pines
Got an overdue car tag? Skip the line — and the hassle — with one of Broward County’s new self-service vehicle registration kiosks in Pembroke Pines.
County tax collector Abbey Ajayi’s office will unveil its 10th one-stop shop at Sedano’s supermarket — 17171 Pines Blvd. — on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
“It’s been a long time in the running,” Ajayi’s chief of staff, Nadia Alcide, told the Pembroke Pines News on Jan. 15. “Everybody wanted it to come to Broward before ... we want to make it exciting so that people know that this is an additional convenience that is available to them in Broward County like it hasn’t been before.”
The Sedano’s kiosk follows the year-long installation of nine Florida MV Express machines at Publix supermarkets across Broward, part of a larger “operational modernization” effort started in January 2025, when Ajayi was first elected.
Also part of the office’s revamp is an Express Lane option that lets customers renew their vehicle registration online and pick it up — skipping the wait — at the tax collector’s Plantation office in 24 hours or less.
Here’s everything you need to know about Broward’s self-service vehicle registration kiosks.
Where can I find a kiosk?
All kiosks — save for Pembroke Pines’ new Sedano’s machine — are located at Publix stores across Broward, according to Alcide.
More locations could be added to the county’s growing list as part of the tax collector’s office goal to bring “faster, more convenient government services directly into the community,” she added.
To renew your vehicle’s registration, visit a Florida MV Express kiosk at one of the following stores:

What services does the kiosk offer?
You can renew the registration of any vehicle that:
- Does not require a new license plate to be issued
- Does not have insurance, driver license or toll suspensions
- Does not require a Florida Certificate of Insurance or IRS Heavy Vehicle Use Tax “2290”
Any of the following are also excluded from the kiosk’s tag renewal services:
- Autonomous vehicles
- Boats
- Government vehicles
- IRP registrations
- Mobile homes
- National Guard license plates
- Personalized license plates
- Parking permits or placards
What should I bring to the kiosk?
For your car tag renewal, you’ll need to bring either a registration renewal notice PIN or the license plate number and date of birth of the first registrant, according to the tax collector’s office.
No cash is accepted at the kiosk — credit and debit cards only — and a service fee of $4.50 and processing fee of 2.3% will be added to your renewal’s total cost.
How long do I have to renew a tag?
If using a kiosk, you must renew your vehicle’s registration within 90 days of its expiration date and up to eight months after the expiration date, according to the Florida MV Express site. Late fees may apply.
