A 26-year-old man is charged with digital voyeurism following a Dec. 18 incident at a Kohl’s store in Plantation, according to police.

A Pembroke Pines man was chased out of a Kohl’s in Plantation after a woman said she discovered he had taken a revealing video of her in a fitting room, according to police.

Derrick Jordan Wright Jr., 26, is now charged with first offense digital voyeurism, a third-degree felony. His attorney information was not available in Broward court records Dec. 23.

Officers with the Plantation Police Department responded to an incident Dec. 18 at the Kohl’s store in The Fountains at 821 S. University Drive, according to a complaint affidavit.

Investigators met with a woman, who told them that a strange man, later identified as Wright, had been following her around the store, police said.

She picked up clothes to try on and headed to the fitting room, but when she was done, she said the same man from earlier approached her and tried talking to her, according to the affidavit.

She said she couldn’t understand him and stepped closer to him, at which point he “turned his phone screen towards her and showed her a video of her topless in the fitting room,” the report reads.

The woman started screaming at him, then other shoppers took notice as he started running away, police said. A group of people chased him out of the store and into the parking lot, where he hopped in a gray BMW and fled, according to officers.

Witnesses gave police the BMW’s tag number, and officers said they looked up the owner and learned the car was registered to Wright, a resident of Pembroke Pines.

The woman identified Wright out of a photo lineup, and an officer started heading to his home along with Pembroke Pines police when the Plantation officer noticed Wright’s car next to them on the I-75 off-ramp, according to police.

The officer said they pulled Wright over on Sheridan Street and arrested him, then he was transported to the Plantation Police Department.

Investigators seized an iPhone 15 as evidence, and he was booked in Broward’s main jail.
