The owner of a music school in Pembroke Pines was arrested after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor over a period of two years, according to police.

Rakesh Jhaveri, 30, of Sunrise faces 10 counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a 15-year-old female victim, according to the Pembroke Pines police department.

Jhaveri owns Music Legacies, a private music school located at 6941 SW 196 Ave. Police said they were notified of inappropriate conduct on Monday, Nov. 17, and posted an arrest advisory on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Investigators said the alleged abuse occurred from 2023 to 2025 while the victim was attending private lessons at the school. Police say Jhaveri leveraged his position of trust to engage in sexual conduct with the minor.

Pembroke Pines Police public information officer Amanda Conwell told the Pembroke Pines News on Nov. 20 that there are no other victims at this time.

“Because of where the suspect worked he had potential exposure to other children, so we were asking parents to speak with their kids and if they have any suspicions to contact us,” she said.

She also said Jhaveri was transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office main jail.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department is asking anyone with children who attended Music Legacies to contact the Special Victims Unit at 954-743-1639 or via email at nratliff@ppines.com if they believe their child may have been affected.
