The City of Pembroke Pines will host a Veterans Day observance Tuesday, Nov. 11, at noon to honor those who have served in the U.S. armed forces.

The free event will be held at Charles F. Dodge City Center Memorial Park, across from 601 City Center Way.

The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, musical performances, the Veterans Portrait Project exhibit display and guest speakers.

Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, marks the end of World War l and became a federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became known as Veterans Day.
