For those plagued with stacks of old bills, tax papers or prescription pills collecting dust at home, the Broward Sheriff’s Office is inviting Pembroke Pines residents to safely clear them out.

BSO will host a free community shred-a-thon on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center to help residents dispose of sensitive documents and unwanted medications.

Residents who bring in their unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications for safe disposal will receive a $5 gift card, while supplies last. Needles or sharp objects will not be collected.

Those looking to discard sensitive documents can bring in up to two boxes of shred-able papers per vehicle, with boxes no larger than 16 inches long, 12 inches wide and 12 inches high.
