A Pembroke Pines man was arrested after a DNA test linked him to a September 2024 carjacking in Boca Raton, court records show.

Tyrone Walker, 21, was arrested by Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies Sept. 29 around 7 p.m. after investigators said he stole a 2023 Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV just over a year ago.

The luxury vehicle’s MSRP starts at north of $375,000 for the base trim, according to auto sites.

Records show Walker’s bond was set at $50,000, and he was released from jail Sept. 30 on the condition he not contact the victim.

According to his arrest warrant filed by the Boca Police Department, Walker snuck up behind a 40-year-old female driver the morning of Sept. 16, 2024 after she parked at Elegant Child, a children’s clothing store located at 59 Federal Highway near Mizner Park.

As she walked toward the boutique with a box containing merchandise, her wallet, car keys and cellphone, she felt someone “touch her from behind and whisper in her ear, ‘Give me your keys,’ and ‘Give me everything,’” reads the warrant.

The woman ran through the parking lot to escape, but dropped the box when she noticed a second suspect behind the first, then she made it inside the shop, where an employee called the police, according to investigators.

The Rolls-Royce driver — who said she saw the individuals steal her car keys, Chanel wallet and iPhone 15 Pro Max as she ran — described the suspects as two men wearing black clothing and ski masks.

Boca Raton detectives said they were tipped off later that afternoon by a man who spotted two vehicles that matched a news release he’d read on the carjacking speeding and swerving while driving southbound on I-95. The warrant says he described seeing a black BMW sedan following a white Rolls Royce SUV around 10:50 a.m. and stayed close behind, noting that the SUV later dumped a cellphone and bag out of the passenger window and onto the interstate shoulder.

The tipster stopped to retrieve the bag and turned it over to detectives, who tagged it as a black Chanel diaper bag containing vehicle registration for a Rolls-Royce, Florida insurance cards, a black Chanel wallet and baby care items.

Five months later, DNA results swabbed from the wallet linked back to Walker, who provided Boca Raton officers an oral swab at his attorney’s office following a search warrant in April, according to court documents.

The results came back Aug. 15 and showed high probability of Walker’s involvement in the crime, police said. The female driver and her husband, who owns the SUV and claims the couple has no ties to the 21-year-old, opted to press charges four days later, records show.

Walker faces a felony charge of carjacking without firearm or weapon.
