Autumn has officially kicked off in South Florida, regardless of heat, humidity or hurricane season. In true local fashion, Pembroke Pines is finding a reason to celebrate.

Halloween parties, dog-friendly events, good causes and musical numbers headline this year’s fall festivities. From a themed 3K walkathon to a ghoulish girls night, the city promises fun for everyone.

Here are several fall events in Pembroke Pines to check out this October.

National Coffee with a Cop Day

Get your caffeine fix with the Pembroke Pines Police Department on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Starbucks from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Officers are inviting community members to a free cup of coffee from the Seattle-based chain and good conversation to facilitate police-resident relationships across the city. Admission is free and open to the public.

Bow Wow Ween

Let your pooch in on the Halloween fun Saturday, Oct. 4, for the 13th annual Bow Wow Ween. Held at Craig Rupp K-9 Dog Park from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., this event features games, pet vendors and costume contests for dogs of all sizes. Those who want to enter their furry friend for a chance to win must fill out an application in advance. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Marvelous Wonderettes

Sing along to ‘50s and ‘60s hits at the Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts production of The Marvelous Wonderettes from Oct. 10 - 19. The off-Broadway jukebox musical chronicles a quartet of high school girls the night of their senior prom and the fateful events that lead to their 10-year reunion. It’s a trip down memory lane chockful of crinoline skirts and classics such as “Mr. Sandman” and “I Only Want To Be With You.” Admission ranges from $30 to $40.

Breakfast In Pink

Support breast cancer awareness — and a good cup of coffee — at H.O.P.E. Advancement Group Inc.’s Breakfast In Pink on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 -10:30 a.m. The 18+ event will be held at Dillard’s in Pembroke Lakes Mall and feature survivor testimonies, music, raffles and a free continental breakfast . Don pink attire and register in advance for free admission.

Not So ScEARy Halloween Party

Putt-putt with a festive twist alongside the University of Miami’s Children’s Hearing Program on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Monster Mini Golf from noon-2 p.m. The recently opened mini-golf course features 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark fun and adds bowling and rock climbing to this event’s lineup. Admission is free with registration.

Family-friendly Spooky Movie

Fang-tastic fun is guaranteed at Pembroke Pines/Walter C. Young Resource Center’s screening of “Hotel Transylvania” this fall. All ages are welcome to the Monday, Oct. 20, movie night from 6-7:30 p.m., but kids in attendance are promised a take-and-make craft kit. Admission is free with registration.

Taste of the Gardens

Unique flavors headline this culinary experience held Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Pembroke Gardens. Sample food and drinks from 13 participating restaurants and support four local non-profits when you purchase a “taste card” from this event sponsored by the Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce. Admission is $15.

Beats & Bites

City Hall invites you to its inaugural Beats & Bites, a new monthly concert series that starts Thursday, Oct. 23, from 7-9 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. The building’s outdoor plaza will be turned into an outdoor stage and feature local and regional bands playing throwback hits from different decades. A themed lineup of food trucks and vendors will keep you fed so you can dance on. Admission is free and open to the public.

Pines Night Out

Pembroke Pines’ police and fire departments invite locals to a night of public safety fun in honor of National Crime Prevention Month. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, from 6-9 p.m. at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, the festivities include food, music, bounce houses, costume contests and health screenings. Meet your neighborhood first responders and enjoy displays by the K-9, crime scene and dive units as well as fire truck demonstrations. Admission is free and open to the public.

Ghouls Night Out

Join the Kendra Scott team for its frighteningly fun Ghouls Night Out on Friday, Oct. 24, from 5-7 p.m. The jewelry store’s Pembroke Gardens location will host a complimentary “spooky and smokey” happy hour and costume contest with a chance to win an in-store raffle. Admission is free and open to the public.

Howl-O-Ween 3K-9 Family Run

Looking to get your steps in with Fido? Participate in the Pembroke Pines YMCA’s 3K-9 walk Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8-10:30 a.m. Once you’ve done your laps, visit the event’s parade, costume contest or photo booth for more fun with your furry friend. All proceeds support the nonprofit’s Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Initiative. Admission is $25 and includes a YMCA-branded bandana for you and your dog.

Fall Flea Market & Bazaar

Over 100 vendors will sell their pre-loved treasures and artisan goods at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Peruse through tables of vinyl records, jewelry, secondhand clothes, vintage toys and more while enjoying refreshments from Emilio’s Café, which will stay open for attendees. PembrokeKIDS Trick or Treat

Enjoy sweets and spooks Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Pembroke Gardens’ annual trick-or-treat event. From 6-8 p.m., kids can collect candy from the mall’s 75 shops and participate in a costume contest with their families and pets. All proceeds are donated to Comic Kids, a Miami-based art nonprofit for vulnerable youth. Tickets are limited and cost $5.

Boo-Ville

Pembroke Pines invites its residents to a “frightfully good time” at its Boo-Ville Pumpkin Palooza on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6-9 p.m. Families can enjoy trick-or-treating, costume contests, roaming monsters and a free goody bag for the first 1,000 kids who attend. Held at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, the event is only open to locals who can provide proof of residency in Pembroke Pines. Admission is free, but tickets are limited and must be booked in advanced starting Oct. 6.
