It’s Memorial Day weekend, Pembroke Pines. A time to reflect, pay respects and enjoy the beginnings of summer.

Clay Day: Wheel Throwing

Catch the first half of this two-part pottery class from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Studio18 Art Complex. Ceramicist Jose Pita Vazquez will guide attendees through maneuvering the pottery wheel, and a second session scheduled for May 30 covers decorating and glazing your finished piece so you can take your creation home. Tickets are $60 and include all materials needed for the all-ages workshop.

Oscar D’Leon in concert

Venezuelan salsa musician Oscar D’Leon — famous for his worldwide anthem “Llorarás” — takes over the Charles F. Dodge City Center on Saturday at 8 p.m. Known as the “Pharaoh of Salsa,” D’Leon achieved international acclaim in the 1980s for his powerful vocals as well as showman-like onstage presence. Tickets range from $87.40 to $286.20 via Ticketmaster.

Cortadito Run

Work up a sweat on Saturday with Pines Running Co.’s “Cortadito Run.” Runners will meet at Colada Cuban Coffee at 7 a.m. before taking off on a 1-to-5-mile run. Post-workout, participants can enjoy exclusive discounts from the coffee shop, as well as socialize with fellow fitness lovers. The event is free with registration.

Mixology class featuring Loca Loka Tequila

Boashi Food Hall + Bar welcomes amateur bartenders and mixologists to a tequila cocktail workshop Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Instructors will guide attendees on how to craft “balanced, bar-quality cocktails” using Loca Loka Tequila, giving tips on flavor pairing, proper shaking and stirring, and presentation. That’s followed by a tasting experience where participants can sip on their creations. Tickets are $71.21 and include all ingredients and tools.
