Tickets now on sale for 16th annual ‘Taste of Pines’ event in Pembroke Pines
Writer, chef and travel documentarian Anthony Bourdain believed that food, though rooted in the emotional and political, is the best way to connect with another person or community.
“Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma,” Bourdain said in an interview with Slate magazine in 2010. “It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.”
The city of Pembroke Pines puts that belief into practice with its annual Taste of Pines event, giving the community a chance to explore the best cuisine from local eateries and connect over shared meals.
This year’s event is scheduled to take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Charles F. Dodge City Center. Guests will have the chance to vote for Best Beverage, Best Food, Best Dessert and Best New Kid on the Block.
This year marks the 16th edition of Taste of Pines. Tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $45 per person (ages 2 and older require tickets).
No tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event. Those unable to purchase tickets through the Ticketmaster site can visit the City Center box office, which is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a limit of six tickets per person.
The city reminds attendees that verified tickets can only be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the box office and urges residents to be cautious of online resellers.
Proceeds benefit the City of Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports teachers and students though scholarships for high school graduates and bonuses for employees in the charter school system.
