Literary walks, fashion and holiday happenings: Your weekend in Pembroke Pines
It was a big week for book lovers.
Tuesday marked the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, a milestone celebrated by readers around the world.
This weekend, Pembroke Pines keeps that momentum going with a lineup that offers something for everyone, including literary walks and a screening of classic holiday movie.
Here’s what’s happening Saturday, Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec. 21:
Cassie’s Walking Club
Early risers can start their weekend on the move with the Pembroke Pines Chapter of Cassie’s Walking Club, part of the Stemy Lit Literary Collective. The group is hosting an audiobook walking event at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at C.B. Smith Park, 900 N. Flamingo Road.
For those who want to get their steps and pages in, the group will meet by the racquet ball court near mile marker 2.
Prime Fashion Market
South Florida’s fashion scene takes over Pembroke Lakes Mall, 11401 Pines Boulevard, with an all-day streetwear, vintage and designer shopping experience from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The market expects more than 30 vendors, along with food, curated cocktails and tooth gems. Shoppers can expect luxury vintage pieces, emerging streetwear labels, rare finds, and unique clothing designed locally.

Holiday Movie Night
The City of Pembroke Pines is hosting a screening of the classic holiday movie “Home Alone” on Saturday at the Frank C. Ortis Gallery and Exhibit Hall at City Hall, 601 City Center Way. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
There will also be a card-making station for guests to write letters to Santa, cookie-decoration with hot chocolate and photo opportunities in front of the city’s Christmas tree and holiday-themed props.
The event is free and open to all ages.
Chanukah Festival
Prepare to close out the week-long Hanukkah festivities with Chabad of Pembroke Pines’ Chanukah Festival at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Pembroke Gardens, 527 SW 145th Terrace.
The shopping center will host a grand menorah lighting, giveaways and prizes, face painting, crafts, latkes and doughnuts. Admission is free and open to the public.
