Happy Thanksgiving week, Pembroke Pines! The time for stuffing your face and gathering with loved ones is here and, with it, your roundup of events to check out between potlucks and the big day.

Heads up: City Hall, libraries, the post office and most major retailers — including grocery giants Publix, Walmart and Costco — will shut down for the holiday on Thursday, Nov. 27. You’ll want to check in with local businesses for adjusted holiday hours this week, too.

Don’t let the closures get you down. Pembroke Pines still plans on serving up festive fun this week.

On the menu are midweek runs, a trivia night, a girls craft night and “turkey trot” for which you don’t have to set an early alarm.

Want to know more? Check out these city-wide weekday events scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24, through Thursday, Nov. 27:

Baoshi 2-mile social run

Let’s Run Pines kicks off Thanksgiving week with a 2-mile run at Baoshi Food Hall + Bar from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. As always, the “all paces welcome” run club will bring free fruit, water and an afterparty chockful of raffles and giveaways. All you have to do is lace up your shoes and enjoy the event.

The wellness social club starts the 1- to 3-mile run at 10280 Pines Blvd., welcomes runners of all paces and will offer games, activities and food as part of its post-run hangout. If you’re looking for love, Sprint Society says to wear all black. In a relationship or just want to get your miles in? Wear any other color. Admission is free with registration.

‘Hometown’ virtual turkey trot

Pembroke Pines may shut down for Thanksgiving on Thursday, but the city has one final event to show your hometown spirit: a city-wide, virtual “turkey trot.” Upon registering, racing platform Run SignUp will ship a personalized Pembroke Pines t-shirt and allow you to run the 5K course anywhere — on a trail, around your neighborhood or on the treadmill. Participants can then submit their time through the platform and see how they measured up with other runners across the nation. Cost is $20 with registration.
